It will be back to back racing for Leyton Fourie, who is off to Sweden this weekend (11 -14 July 2019) to compete in the second round of the Rotax Euro Trophy. This comes just days after Leyton took the silver in the Rotax Africa Open at the Vaal Kart Circuit.
The Africa Open produced some action packed racing. Leyton qualified 2nd and found himself in a massive three kart tussle for position in the first race. He crossed the line in 2nd. A flawless drive, gave Leyton the race two win and pole position for the “winner takes all” final.
Leyton had a good start and was challenging for the lead, when he was forced to run wide. This allowed a train of karts through. Leyton kept his head, making text book passes to get himself back up to second place. He closed in on the race leader and made a dash to the flag. Leyton finished just a few hundredths of a second behind the eventual winner.
The race served as good preparation for Leyton who will be racing in Kristianstad this weekend. Leyton is currently 5th in the Euro Trophy and is aiming for a podium finish in Sweden.
The last time Leyton raced his OTK Exprit for Team KMS, he finished 4th. This after starting the race in 9th place and having to slice his way through the field of International drivers.
“I am looking forward to the weekend and am truly blessed to have the support of RKT in South Africa and Team KMS in Europe. Thank you to Bidvest Compendium Insurance Brokers, Express Hire, Remote Hygiene and National Pride Trading for making this all possible, commented Leyton”
