One of the Western Cape Rally legends passed away on 7 February 2019. Few can claim a more significant influence in Western Cape Rallying.

Aged 75, William Bernard Bright, or Uncle Bill, better known as official than competitor and his Chairmanship of the second oldest motor club in South Africa, the Cape Peninsula Motorcycle and Car Club (1910), eventually became Honorary President in the mid 1980's.

He succeeded in running a rally special stage around Signal Hill and with the assistance of Tolken Toyota brought national rallying to Cape Town.

From 2003 to 2011 he even brought national Off Road racing to Darling.

Bill Bright and Lance Cerff rallied successfully in a Ford Capri and then Ford Escort Mk I.

Bill leaves his wife, Ann, children Lisa-Ann, Jonathan and Nicholas and grandchildren Jason, Lily and Holly.
