The 2019 TRP Distributors South African National Motocross Championship kicks off at Port Elizabeth’s Rover Raceway Saturday 23 February. The new season not only promises extreme action, but it also rings a few race format changes too, with 2019 race lengths set to make the notoriously tough and sandy Rover track an even greater challenge, but the focus will squarely be on the SA motocross who’s who when that first gate drops.

With defending MX1 & MX2 Champion Caleb Tenant off to race in the US this season, the chips will be down as riders in the premier MX1 class do battle for their share of the R35 000 prize.

Anthony Raynard stood on the top step of the MX2 podium at Rover in 2018 – what will he produce in 2019 aboard a Yamaha for his new Tintswalo Racing team?  Tristan Purdon is another rider sure to attract attention now aboard an MX1 Red Bull KTM, while double-defending champion team Husqvarna is among those still to confirm their 2019 motocross plans too.

All eyes will be on Camden McLellan on his Red Bull KTM in the PE opener’s High School class, before he heads back to Germany to continue his international racing dreams after winning the ADAC MX Masters Junior Cup Championship in last year. Also expect extreme action across all Championship classes and age groups as always — those chips certainly are down!

The seven-round Motorsport South Africa sanctioned 2019 TRP Distributors South African National Motocross Championship starts at Rover 23 February before heading to Zone 7 in Cape Town on 30 March; Bloemfontein 25 May and to Krugersdorp’s mid-season races at Dirt Bronco 6 July. Then it’s off to Pietermaritzburg 10 August, Welkom on 21 September, building up to the finals at Johannesburg's Northern Farms on 26 October.

The Port Elizabeth season opener opens with practice from 07h30 with racing from around 10h00 — Entrance to the Rover Raceway on Victoria Drive, Schoenmakerskop is R60 per adult and free for kids under 12, where full catering and the rest will ensure that you enjoy a great day of racing!

The 2019 South African National Motocross Championship is brought to you by TRP Distributors, together with Dragon Energy, Prepsol, Bridgestone, Thor, Gaerne, FMF, Motul, Pro-Taper, Fly racing, 100%, Ogio luggage, Racestar Graffix and the Race Shop.
