A whirlwind debut season for the MotorMart Racing Team ends at Zwartkops Raceway on November 9-10 with Round 8 of the 2018 MotorMart VW Challenge championship.

Team owner and Class B driver Mohamed Dangor takes us through the season to date: “It was a baptism of fire during the first half of the season for us, but we’ve seen a host of good results of late. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our debut season. The level of competition in this category is superb and the successes of 2018 will pave our way forward.”

2019 will see Dangor moving into Class A; a move that he’s eagerly anticipating: “After finding our feed we’re ready to take the step up. We’ve purchased a car that potentially can see us competing at the front end of the class, so we’ve got a lot to look forward to. It’s therefore important for us to finish our current Class B campaign on a high.”

Behind the scenes it has indeed been a busy few weeks for the team: A major change with immediate effect is the departure of Quinton Needham from the driver line-up as Dangor continues: “Quinton will be focussing on professional commitments abroad. He will however make a final appearance in the category at the season finale. We would certainly like to wish him well for both his final race as well as his future abroad.”

For the second consecutive race, the team will therefore be fielding a two-car line-up with Robbie da Silva joining Dangor in Class B. Da Silva will again be competing in the Creative INK Media liveried Volkswagen Polo and after missing the previous round, is looking forward to the season finale: “After a good time abroad it’s good to be back behind-the-wheel. Of course, I also missed the season’s first Zwartkops Raceway round so this will be my first competitive outing at the circuit. The goal will obviously be further development for 2019 and nothing can build momentum better than ending the year with a strong weekend’s racing.”

The team will be making further announcements regarding 2019 following the completion of the current season.

The race weekend forms part of the final Extreme Festival for 2018. Spectators can purchase tickets directly from the venue on the day at: R120.00 per adult, R90.00 per student and with children under 12 years entering for free. Fans are also invited to keep track of the team’s results by following the MotorMart Facebook page:

The MotorMart Racing team would like to thank their sponsors Speedy Den 4x4 World and Creative Ink Media for the continued support. In addition, the team would also like to acknowledge and thank the associate sponsors of the MotorMart VW Challenge for making this exciting category possible: Norbrake Distribution, ATE Brakes, Dicktator Engine Management Systems, Yaskawa, Pozidrive and BPM Engineering.
