A steady host of points-paying finishes during the 2018 MotorMart VW Challenge season sees Monitor Net’s Deon Holliday Jnr in contention for Class B honours during the season finale at Zwartkops Raceway on the weekend of November 9-10.
Despite missing the opening round of the season, he trails Jacques Smith by four points heading into Round 8. Along with his second place on the Class B table, he’s also occupying fourth place on the category championship table. In both, the battle will be between Smith, Holliday Jnr and fellow Class B competitor Chris Dale; the trio respectively on 89, 85 and 82 points.
“2018 has been an exciting season in Class B.” says Holliday Jnr ahead of Round 8. “It’s quite good that the battle in our class in going down to the wire. Granted, this was hugely helped on by Jacques’ not scoring points in the previous round. Being in with a chance means that we’ll be working towards making the most of that chance.”
The previous round, also hosted at Zwartkops Raceway, saw Holliday Jnr taking two second place finishes for the day: “We know we’ll have to push quite a bit harder this time around, but it’s a challenge that we’re ready for.”
Round 8 of the championship will form part of the final Extreme Festival for 2018. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the venue on the day for R120.00/adult, R90.00/student and with children under the age of 12 entering for free.
