Kyle sets pace, drama for Charl at Killarney

The Visser brothers from Durbanville could not have had a more different outcome to Saturday’s Killarney WP karting opener as younger brother Kyle stormed to victory in Mini Rok and ended a strong third overall in Mini Max.

“I had an excellent day in Mini Rok,” Kyle, who won the under-11 category in that national championship last year admitted. “We won all three races and my Charl Electric Zanardi was perfect all day thanks to all our engineer Zefrey Ngoben and my dad’s hard work. “It was a little harder in Mini Max — we are still coming to grips with my FA Kart there, so I’m also happy with my podium — I have a little work to do to beat Michael Fernandez and Joaquin de Oliveira though, but well done to them."

Saturday was looking to be a dream start to the season for the Vissers after Charl crossed the line first three times in a row in Junior Max, but a post race inspection deemed Charl’s kart illegal and he was excluded for the day. “We made a silly mistake on the kart and we have paid for it”, Charl rued. “It's a shame but we will be back.”
