The Regional Cross Country Car Racing action returned for round 2 of the championship at a place called Excelsior, 50 kms outside the North West town of Vryburg. With the first round held some time ago in March, competitors were very eager to get going again and fight for top honours in all classes.
This event was put together by the Vryburg Motor Club, after political unrest in the Lichtenburg/Coligny area forced a last-minute change of venue. In a very short space of time, the club rallied together all their members and tackled the organising of the event with great spirit. The venue was something of a ‘blast-from-the-past’ because we haven’t raced in that neck of the woods for some time now. A technical (twisty) and sandy route awaited all competitors with tall grass ever-present, making the route quite slippery in places.
