The long awaited Junior Off-Road Club series, comprising 6 races and aimed at the beginner motorcycle and quad rider, starts this weekend, Saturday 18 February at Babsfontein - with even a class for Moms!

The format of the Series, known as the Echo 4X4 Centre Xross Country Inland Junior Club Championship, is the same as the current Gauteng Off-Road Club (GOC) Series where riders have to complete a set number of laps.    This will be different for the senior juniors and the junior juniors.

This Series is for any junior who is interested in Off-Road Motorcycling or Quad racing.

To be fair to all, the starting positions for this weekend’s race will be determined by the order in which the organisers receive the entries.  So, the earlier you enter, the better your starting position in race 1.  Afterwards riders will start in points’ sequence, exactly the same format for the senior series.

The Mommies class, one for motorcycles and one for quads,  is specifically aimed at the senior lady riders/mommies (whether your kid races in the series or not), who feels intimidated to ride in the Senior Series and first wants to hone their skills in a more relaxed environment.

Entry fees for GOC members are R300 and R350 for non-GOC members.

For parents wanting to see first whether their youngsters would like racing or not, 2 options are available.  They can either take out a MSA club membership at R935 (this includes the club licence for R375 and R560 for the Group Accident cover, inclusive of medical expenses).  The latter gives R150 000 cover per event.

The other alternative is to take out a one-event license at R150.  You will have to provide proof of medical cover from your medical aid.  Without the medical aid letter you will unfortunately not be able to start.  Alternatively, you can take out one-event insurance for R475.

The race regulations (which contains the rules and the permitted classes), as well as an entry form and Self-Scrutineer form, is attached.
